In 1977, I was invited to stay with the Madrid family in their home in Redford. I was writing an article for National Geographic on the roadrunner. I was amazed by the walls of books in the house. Enrique referred me to places in Ojiniga where I would find curanderos to interview for my article. I will never forget the kindness of the Madrid family.
Thanks for all you're doing for our old friends!
Thank you Ruby and Enrique for all you have added to the community and to the VOBS community.
Thinking of you two and hoping you are able to be back at home more in the near future.
❤️❤️❤️
I met Enrique and Ruby in 2017 while leading a NOLS course on the Rio Grande. After learning some of the secrets of making tortillas, I took Enrique's lessons to heart and worked and worked to perfect my tortillas. Today, I run a micro-tortilleria out of my home in Lander, WY www.wyomingtortillas.com I would love to send Enrique and Ruby a package so that I could get their impression of how I've done with the craft. Is there a way I could get an address? Email or physical?
We give with gratitude for all Enrique and Ruby have given of themselves.
What happy memories of Redford this all stirs… including learning to make chiles rellenos from you both! Best of luck with this reclamation!
