Help Fred buy, drive and deliver an evacuation vehicle to Ukraine šŗš¦
In July 2025, Fred Hart will drive 1,318 miles over 3 days across Europe to deliver an evacuation 4x4 vehicle to Ukraine, where it will be donated for work on the Ukrainian frontlines.
Fred has put his hands up to support the Driving Ukraine team and make the delivery happen, and he now needs your support to buy, drive, and deliver this vehicle.Ā
I seem to have volunteered to drive a vehicle to Ukraine. I love driving and thought: āwhy not combine that with my desire to help others?ā
Ā
This is a war which is happening right on our doorstep. The distance from the UK to our destination, Lviv, is only around 1300 miles. When I drove to Portugal in 2023, that was a 1500 mile journey. Lviv is closer to the UK than where the majority of British people go on holiday.
Ā
That means the war impacts us all. Only the other day, in the Tesco car park in Cirencester, I spotted a car on Ukrainian numberplates. Thereās a lot of UA registered cars about, even here in rural Gloucestershire. Germany, Poland, Czechia and the UK are the 4 countries which have taken the most Ukrainian refugees.
Ā
This is a conflict happening dangerously close to home. Supply chains have been disrupted, energy supplies impacted, and many countries in Europe have changed both domestic and foreign policy. Thereās the security and stability implications of war too.
Ā
Apart from anything else, Ukraineās borders were violated by the Russians ā without provocation. In Europe, in this day and age, this cannot be tolerated.
Ā
If you can help me raise Ā£5000 so I can complete this mission, that would be great. I know it isnāt much time!
Ā
After departure Iāll let you know of progress and hopefully be able to report a successful mission / successful delivery to Lviv in only a few weeks.
Driving Ukraine vehicles, 4x4 pickup trucks and ambulances, are purchased in the UK and modified by dedicated volunteers, before beingĀ placed with essential teams in Ukraine including: ambulance crews, 4x4 evacuation teams, first-aid responders, international volunteer medics, humanitarian bomb disposal units, hospitals, among others.
The urgent need for international support in Ukraine is undeniable, particularly today even as some sort of peace is discussed. The longer this invasion persists, the more challenging it becomes for Ukraine. The war is now inĀ its fourth year. The future of Ukraineās survival hangs in the balance with new international leaders in power. The Ukrainians need more vehicles, aid, and international support from volunteers than ever before.
The toll of this conflict is staggering, with tens of thousands of civilians killed, countless more injured, and hundreds of billions of dollars in infrastructure damage. 4,000,000 Ukrainians have lost their homes,Ā 10,000 missiles have been launched at the country, and over 1,000 medical facilitiesĀ have been destroyed.
We request your support in raising £5,000 and beyond to transport a 4x4 vehicle.
Funds raised beyond this will buy a drone jamming device to prevent the vehicle being destroyed by FPV drones. More details below.
Vehicles are destroyed by the harsh war-torn conditions, further exacerbated by the cold winter which Ukraine is emerging from. Vehicles are destroyed by the enemy: bullets, artillery, shrapnel are key causes, butĀ dronesĀ are the largest threat.Ā
An example āEWā Electronic Warfare drone jamming system is below. Specifically the āAmulet 7Mā.Ā
This technology is made by volunteers in Lviv and seeks to block a range of frequencies which drones rely on to fly.Ā
Kamikaze drones aiming for our vehicles are stopped 180 metres away: depending on the settings they are forced to either lose connection and fall from the sky, emergency land, or return to āhomeā, all of which prevent destruction to the vehicle, and protect the lives of the driver, the passengers, and any wounded soldiers the vehicle is carrying.
