Romelia Farms Wildlife Preserve is a newly established, 501(c)(3) nonprofit located in beautiful Merritt Island, Florida. When owners Lina & Jeremy Graves first inquired about the farm in late 2020, it most certainly wasn’t because they had any interest in buying a zoo. However, when they found out about the former owner’s intention to sell the land & send the 150+ animals living on it to auction, they decided they had to act quickly if they were going to save the animals from a most certainly dismal future.
On July 29th, 2021, Romelia Farms was born, and on day one it became clear how run down the animals & land had been. A majority of the animals were in poor general health, housed in cramped or improper enclosures, & missing any kind of quality enrichment. Immediately after assessing the situation, a variety of necessary & overdue changes were made, including:
- Implementing specialized dietary programs for each animal
- Providing medical treatment for a variety of ailments
- Rebuilding animal enclosures
- Providing appropriate enrichment
- Restoring pastureland
From the first day Romelia Farms was founded, our mission has been to provide the utmost quality care for the animals who call our farm their home. However, our mission is quite simply unobtainable without the ongoing support of individuals and organizations within our community. #ForTheAnimals is a campaign focused solely on providing a regular source of funding for items such as food, medications, supplements, water, enrichment, and ongoing improvements in order to eliminate the uncertainty that comes from relying on ticket sales to fund these vital expenses.
