mainly music is a lifeline for whānau/families in your neighbourhood. It represents a joy-filled community of belonging. It’s a place where whānau are served and celebrated.
2026 has been the most challenging since our first mainly music began in Aotearoa/New Zealand in 1990.
With the closure of groups after Covid resulting in lower revenue and despite trimming all that we can, costs have increased. We need your help. We, mainly music NZ, exist to serve and support locally hosted mainly music happening in neighbourhoods through the country.
Creating a joy-filled place of belonging is key to the outcome each dedicated volunteer team aspires to achieve. Local churches value the opportunity to provide this loving, shared environment that welcomes everyone.
Each mainly music recognises the importance of attachment theory, which contributes to the security and well-being of tamariki/children. Each session provides education and development outcomes, an opportunity for tamariki to enjoy an enhanced attachment experience with their whānau, and for carers to receive parenting tuition by example. These groups are often wraparound care for whānau.
