Hello, beloved Burning Man camper:
We’re bringing a gorgeous Artcar to the Playa this year as our camp gift to the Burning Man community, and it's exciting.
I’d hoped – and originally planned – to finance it in its entirety, but as can happen so easily, the costs have outstripped expectations. We’re on the way and it's been my great delight to take us this far. I’m writing to you today to ask you to leap into the effort – to please consider supporting Fluffy’s build and journey to the playa.
The Wonder-filled Why of Fluffy!
You’ve experienced the joy and wonder and creativity of a ride on an Artcar there. It’s a unique experience, as in …don’t get to do that every day! We’ve all benefited from the efforts of others to make that magic happen. And Duane’s Whirld has our own history in mutant vehicles, from fielding the TimeCycle to supporting and joining The Bleachers, Rabid Transit, and El Pulpo Mechanico. So much joy.
So having had to sit out the past two years, we’re returning to Black Rock City with great anticipation and our own Artcar. Fluffy is floating clouds, wafting across the Playa, with stunning artistic creativity day and night. A dance floor and two second-level nests. Solid sound system with programmed light performance evoking sunrise, sunset, and storms. The perfect platform for our signature gifting of Deep Playa Beer Delivery by the heat of the day and ‘Smores by chilly night. A wheelchair lift and Braille rails, welcoming that many more folks onto a Playa Artcar adventure. This art will be a significant contribution to our Burning Man community, this year and going forward.
Duane’s Whirld and Fluffy have our own website and YouTube channel this year, celebrating and chronicling our progress toward completion. This is really happening, and far from arduous, we’ve discovered that a huge gift from the effort is the bringing together of our people in creating this community art.
Ways to Participate in Fluffy’s Build!
Every Duane’s Whirlder is welcome to come to Fluffy’s fabrication facility and join in the fun. We’ll put you up and put you to work. But of course, not everyone can travel to Vermont in the remaining 12 weeks of Fluffy’s creation.
