HAPPY GIVING TUESDAY!
Thank you for considering a donation to Firebird Pops Orchestra's Giving Tuesday Kick-Off Campaign! The start-up process for nonprofits is both complex and costly, so anything you give today will help us recover costs we've already incurred, and sure we are able to cross the start-up finish line!
IMPORTANT NOTE: Although we ARE an incorporated nonprofit, part of the goal for this campaign is to help us raise funds to apply for our 501(c)(3) status. Because we are not yet tax-exempt, donations made today are not yet tax deductible. It is likely that any donations made today will be retroactively deductible when we receive our tax-exempt status. Please save your receipt for a future deduction.
Out of the Ashes, Firebird Rises
Firebird Pops Orchestra is a nonprofit, community pops orchestra founded in July, 2020 during the Coronavirus pandemic to provide hope in the arts “rising from the ashes” of a devastated industry, and debuted virtually in August, 2020 with nearly 60 musicians performing a medley of music from Harry Potter. The premiere performance and subsequent performances currently total over 55,000 combined views, and have earned both local and national media attention. Check us out on "RightThisMinute" on FOX:
So far, Firebird Pops Orchestra has provided performance opportunities for over 100 musicians in the midst of COVID. Although we are a fully volunteer community orchestra which does not generate income for musicians, these opportunities have given musicians a chance to keep playing in a new medium with an entirely different level of exposure and collaboration.
The Costs
Did you know, just to file for tax-exempt status requires paying $600?! That's just the filing fee! Did you know that file storage for virtual performances can approach 500GB PER project? So far, we have incurred expenses for advertising, equipment (storage), incorporation, misc. business formation, sheet music, licensing, web hosting, streaming platforms, etc. On top of this, we still need to file for tax-exemption and outsource some of our video editing.
This campaign will ensure we are positioned to recover those costs, finish our set-up process, and continue to deliver high-quality content in the future. Thank you for your support!
