Your donation will help us transform the media landscape by making space for a new way of storytelling.
Through our Parity Pipeline initiative we recommend projects from marginalized filmmakers to over 200 production companies, financiers, film festivals and distributors in an ongoing push towards inclusive programming practices.
Our weekly Speaker Series of educational workshops, panel discussions and networking mixers amplifies underrepresented voices on a public platform. Recent conversations include “Disabilities On Screen and Off ”, “Asian American Representation During Covid”, and “Authentic Authorship: The Ethics of Storytelling”.
The Film Fatales Streaming Library is a content discovery platform for audiences to discover hundreds of feature films directed by women and non-binary creators available to watch online.
We are developing a new Fatales Forward career advocacy program to create real opportunities for undiscovered filmmakers developing their debut feature length films.
In a film industry where non-binary and/or trans perspectives are vastly underrepresented and women directors of all backgrounds have accounted for less than 5% of the top grossing films over the past 13 years, Film Fatales provides a structure that enables underrepresented creators to get their films made and seen.
Filmmakers of all marginalized genders lack the levels of institutional support, mentorship and job opportunities afforded to their white cis-male counterparts within both the independent film and studio systems. They are more likely to be given opportunities when budgets are low and less money is at risk, but there is a sharp “fiscal cliff” as production budgets increase.
There is no lack of directing talent, only a lack of opportunity.
Join Film Fatales as we work together to build a more equitable future for us all. Thanks for the support!
Film Fatales is a 501(c)3 non profit arts organization and talent discovery platform which supports an inclusive community of over a thousand women, non-binary, trans and/or genderqueer feature film and television directors of all ethnicities, orientation, ages, disabilities and historically marginalized backgrounds. Our programming raises the visibility of underrepresented creators and expands the talent pool for decision makers looking in a push towards more equitable hiring practices. By redefining the landscape of storytelling, Film Fatales continues to bring exciting new films to the screen.
