Hi there, my mother recently began an effort to combat migrant-hunger during the second Coronavirus lockdown in Delhi by providing meals for manual labourers and blue-collar workers laid off during this challenging time for India. Over the last month, we have provided day-time meals to approximately 500 people on an almost-daily basis in the localities of Kotla, Aya Nagar, and Anand Vihar.
However, while our in-house team manages the cooking, packaging, and distribution of these meals for those in need, we are now running out of the ration supplies so essential to keep this effort going. Thus far, rations have largely come through as generous donations from the public.
But we are now looking to accept online donations that will be used to purchase rations that will either be processed as meals for the hungry or distributed as care packages.
On average, our daily cost comes to approximately Rs 15,000. With this, we try to make 500 day-time meals everyday. So, that means we're making a single meal at the price of Rs. 30.
That means with a donation of Rs. 1000, you can provide meals to at least 33 hungry people. Tell me that's not cool!
That said, I’d like to ask anyone reading this message to donate any funds they can spare toward this effort and share this campaign in order to raise awareness about the social and economic consequences of the lockdown in Delhi.
Thank you for reading this message and please contact me (Hanut Singh) on FB messenger, Instagram, or Twitter if you need any more details.
