Winter is here. The grass is gone. The herd still needs to eat.
Every winter, the pastures at Farm of the Free go dormant. The grass turns brown and stops growing, and our cows, donkeys, goats, and sheep depend on hay to stay fed and warm until spring.
Hay is more than food. Digesting it helps the animals make their own body heat on cold nights, and it gives them the fiber and nutrients they need to stay healthy.
This winter, the residents need 680 bales of hay. At $11 a bale, our goal is $7,480.
Choose your impact
- $11 buys one bale of hay
- $63 feeds the whole herd for one full day, and we'll mail you a Duke ornament
- $126 feeds the whole herd for two days
- $315 feeds the whole herd for five days
- $630 feeds the whole herd for ten days
🎄 Our thank-you gift: a Duke ornament
Give $63 or more any time through December 31, and we'll mail you a holiday ornament featuring Duke, one of our goats, who loves to sit in a tub of hay. Please be sure to enter your mailing address. Ornaments take about 1 to 2 weeks to arrive, so gifts made after mid-December may arrive after the holidays.
Want to give in someone's honor? A gift of hay makes a meaningful holiday present. Just check the dedication box when you give.
Thank you for helping us keep every resident fed, warm, and safe this winter. 💚
