DOG YOYO CHINA IN EMERGENCY - SITUATION REPORT

On June 21st, China's Guangdong province had its historical and record-breaking flooding with millions of people affected.

Massive Flooding in Guangdong Province
  • Thousands of locals were evacuated.
  • Thousands of houses were destroyed.
  • Hectares of crops were damaged.
  • According to Guangdong's Department of Emergency Management damages cost more than $250 million.
Limited Access to Pet Food and Medical Supplies
  • Dog Yoyo China was spared by the flooding but our pet food and medical suppliers based in the city proper were greatly affected.
  • Access to supplies is expected to be slower and more challenging in the coming weeks and even months.
  • Dog Yoyo in China needs help to sustain pet food and medical supplies.

Rainy Season: A Threat to Dogs’ Health
  • Guangdong's rainy season falls from April to September.
  • The rainy season may have health hazards to dogs such as diarrhea due to food and water contamination, skin allergies and infections, etc.
  • As part of risk management, Dog Yoyo in China needs to prepare medical supplies and emergencies for dogs during this cold and wet season.
  • Dog Yoyo sanctuary needs to be well-maintained too as moss grows on the concrete floors due to high humid weather.

During emergencies, we need more help to raise funds
for the needs of our rescue dogs.
