Support a faithful Slovak translation of the Bible

Slovaks need the pure Word of God.

All modern Slovak translations are based on texts that contain hundreds of differences and omitted verses. These change the meaning of doctrine and obscure the gospel.
We believe every person has the right to hold the faithful Word of God in their hands – complete, unaltered and without compromise.

My name is Michal Melíšek, and together with my team I’m working on a new faithful translation of God’s Word from the traditional Received Text into Slovak, in cooperation with the Trinitarian Bible Society, the world’s oldest publisher of faithful translations. Since 2021, I have personally invested more than 935 hours into translation itself, and hundreds more into study, preaching, evangelism, and discipling believers.

So far, we have published the Gospel of John and the Epistle to the Romans, and a full third of the New Testament is translated.

Freely we have received, and freely we give. But my life is not free. :-) Nor is the life of my family, whom I alone provide for.

“For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.” (1 Tim 5:18, KJV)

I make our living as a freelancer. We are not in need. We have everything we truly need. What I long for is simply more time, so that instead of chasing worldly work I can fully focus on what I believe is most valuable. I appreciate one-time support, but regular support – even in smaller amounts – helps the most, because it lets me spend less time earning money and more time creating.

🤍 €1000 a month allows me to drop the least effective contracts and dedicate a strong part-time to Bible translation.

💪🏼 €2500 a month (two average Slovak incomes for a family of four) allows me to leave secular jobs practically entirely and fully devote myself to translating, evangelizing, preaching, and serving with my family.

Right now with my wife – and two little disciples are growing up in our household as well.

For the detail-lovers: my work in numbers

From August 2021 (since I started tracking this carefully) until September 2025, I’ve invested:

• 7000+ hours of productive work, including:
• 935+ hours in Bible translation,
• 20+ hours in evangelism,
• 80+ hours discipling believers one-on-one,
• 90+ hours preparing sermons for The Narrow Way (11,900+ hours of watch time on YouTube),
• 25+ hours creating Self-Development Talks (5700+ hours of watch time on YouTube),
• 50+ hours writing articles,
• 30+ hours just publishing content,
• 4630+ hours earning our living...

Altogether, 17.5% of my productive time has been devoted to serving others, 13% of that only Bible translation. But 66% of my time and energy was consumed by making a living. (The rest is productive but non-paid work – home renovation, etc.)
