Hi, my name’s Ben Matthews and I’d like to formally invite you to the premiere screening of “The Everyday 100 Mile” documentary. 2 months ago, I undertook the grand adventure of running my first 100 mile trail ultramarathon. Originally, I was set to compete in a race on the Sunshine Coast before it was abruptly cancelled a few weeks out. Rather than be disappointed or waste my extensive training, I decided to create my own course with the support of about a dozen friends & family and complete the mission solo.
What does this have to do with Precious Wings? On October 19th 2020 my wife Mahli & I lost Dallas Fury Matthews who was stillborn. Being our first child, we were absolutely flawed by his death and the hollowness he left in our lives. Dallas was the blessing of IVF, but due to the lack of clarity around what lead to his premature birth we were uncertain whether we would pursue having more children. I can inform you that we have gone on to have two beautiful kids (Ellis & Ruby) who are the centre of our universe.
Losing Dallas fortified a worldview and drive in me that life isn’t to be wasted. It is our personal responsibility to challenge ourselves and suffer willingly to obtain personal growth even when there are times you want to block the world out, crippled by despair. Running 100 miles as someone who doesn’t come from a running background is but one example of how I’ve used Dallas’ death to give me courage to find answers to questions I had about my own potential. He inspires me to call on the best version of myself as I will never see that transpire in him. I hope you’ll join me for the premiere viewing of the documentary and see how an everyday bloke can achieve extraordinary things.
Precious Wings provide “memory boxes” that aid in giving you a physical representation of your lost child. Somewhere you can reflect and mourn their passing with items such as teddy bears, foot prints and messages from other bereaved parents. I didn’t realise at the time, but it has been such a comfort to have our own memory box for Dallas. Precious Wings relies largely on donations to make memory boxes and other items for those who’ve suffered miscarriages or other child related deaths. I thank you in advance for any contribution you can make to a cause that is very dear to my heart.

Thank you so much for your support.
