Hello,

We are FCOC or For Caribbeans of color. We are a (501)(c)(3) nonprofit organization that strives to introduce educational and mental health opportunities and resources to and for Caribbeans and People of color.

For a more detailed information video visit: https://youtu.be/CGTygGye61w

This campaign is to fund our 2 upcoming major programs:

Education Web Program:

- We recognize that not all high schools have equal access to college and academic counselors.

This program is to ensure that high school students have someone that is able to properly guide them to resources that can get them ready for college, at no cost to their parents.

Students will meet with a counselor once a week for 25 weeks at the beginning of their senior year to ensure they get the most attentive care.

Counselors will offer resources like college/university information, information on grants, scholarships, and even loans. If necessary counselors will refer students to our in-house tutors to make sure that their grades are college ready, at NO COST TO THEM.

Road To Success Program:

Not every school has the same college access resources. Low-income communities are especially lacking. At FCOC we notice and acknowledge the disparities that exist in POC neighborhoods, so FCOC offers FREE-of-charge ACT,  SAT, and GED prep testing.

Students will choose whether they want a 1-on-1 session or a class.

(1-on-1 classes will be a one-time $5 fee that can be waived if they can provide proof of low income)

Students will be able to choose if they want to participate in person or online.

In the beginning, enrollment will be limited to 120 children across 3 states (Florida, DC, and New York).  However, open enrollment will be available once we receive more funding and are able to hire more staff.

Children will have a choice between 3 prep periods:

3 months prep

6 months prep

9 months prep

They may re-enroll should they need to. (Re-enrollment will carry a $2 fee).

This program will also include tutoring for high school students. This part of the program will help assist them in achieving the grades necessary to qualify for a collegiate career.

These sessions will cover general education courses such as:

Sciences:  Biology, chemistry, and physics.

Mathematics:  Statistics, algebra, geometry, and calculus.

English: Oral languages, literature, and composition.

Social Sciences: History, geography, and economics.

UPDATE:

We would also like to be more transparent about what the donations will cover:

-Employee Salaries (Tutors, Counselors, Therapists, and Interns). We value equity and other than people who volunteer their time, we cannot expect others to work for no pay. We want to provide an adequate salary so that we are able to provide the best services to low-income communities.

-Rent for a physical location: A lot of children feel more comfortable having a physical place of learning, and we want to be able to provide that.

-Travel fees: We want to provide bus passes/metro cards to children who sign up for in-person classes. There is no point in having those resources if one cannot access them.

Paramedic: We want to have a medical professional on hand who is able to handle emergencies asap should they arise.

Other capacity-building operations: Employee benefits (insurance and leave), nonprofit insurance, equipment for programs, books for children in the programs, employee equipment, etc.
