Dear Friends and Supporters,
As a former executive with the Carolina Hurricanes and the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, home of the NFL’s New York Giants and Jets, I understand the overwhelming number of requests for support that come your way. However, I hope you'll consider this appeal for a cause very close to my heart—my hometown, Enfield, North Carolina.
My name is Larry B. Perkins, and I grew up in Enfield, leaving with just a dollar and seventy-two cents. My journey, which I recount in my book, Buck Seventy-Two, A Destiny of Will, led me to where I am today. Despite my personal investments and efforts in Enfield, revitalizing a community requires more than just a few individuals. That's why I'm reaching out to you.
Enfield, founded in 1740 and the fifth oldest town in North Carolina, boasts a rich history and a resilient community spirit. However, our town has faced significant challenges in recent years. The rerouting of I-95 away from Enfield led to an economic decline and an increase in crime rates. Just last weekend, our local supermarket was the site of a terrifying gunfire incident.
In collaboration with NCGrowth from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, we conducted an economic impact study confirming our community's struggles with poverty and crime. Despite our efforts, we need more resources to ensure the safety and well-being of Enfield's residents.
In response, we are launching the Enfield Neighborhood Electronic Surveillance Systems (NESS) program. This initiative aims to enhance security, support law enforcement, and bring peace of mind to our residents. With your help, we can equip Enfield with the technological infrastructure needed for a safer environment.
The NESS program will:
1. Increase Security: Implement camera surveillance across town.
2. Support Law Enforcement: Provide live surveillance feeds for real-time response.
3. Empower Communities: Enable residents to share footage on community platforms.
4. Monitor Offenses: Identify and address minor offenses like loitering and littering.
5. Expose Scams: Help uncover fraudulent activities.
6. Prevent Theft: Capture footage of package thefts.
7. Track Break-ins: Monitor auto and home break-ins.
8. Boost Neighborhood Watch: Enhance efforts with real-time alerts.
How You Can Help:
Your contribution can significantly impact on the safety and quality of life for Enfield's residents. By donating, you can help provide free cameras to seniors, those living alone, high-crime areas, and key locations like high-traffic intersections and railroad crossings. Every donation brings us one step closer to a safer, thriving Enfield.
Join Us:
Together, we can restore peace and security to Enfield, making it a better place for all. Please consider making a donation today and sharing this campaign with your network. Every dollar counts, and your support can make a tangible difference.
Thank you for considering our request. We look forward to your partnership in making Enfield a safer, more secure place to live.
