Ender Manuel Martínez, a beloved friend, human rights advocate, LGBTQ+ activist, and refugee from El Salvador, passed away on December 3 after a long battle to recover his health and gain asylum in Mexico. He leaves behind his partner Marcos and Marcos's brother César, both of whom are still trying to establish themselves in Mexico after fleeing death threats. Marcos and César cannot legally work or access public services while their case is being resolved in the courts and yet are provided no financial support, a major reason many refugees in Mexico abandon their asylum cases before they are resolved or are deported for working without papers.
In honor of Ender's memory, we are hoping to support them with basic expenses for the length of the pandemic while also assisting them with legal fees necessary to regularize their status and hopefully put them on the path to greater peace and stability in the future. Your generous gifts of any amount are appreciated - even $5 goes a long way in Mexico!
Many thanks for your kindness.
Please share this fundraiser if you can! Recurring donations may be canceled at any time (via Donorbox or by emailing me). Recurring donors will receive periodic updates via email.

If you have the means to do so, please join us in making a recurring contribution of $5 to $25 or more to ensure that Ender is supported in this difficult time. Recurring contributions relieve stress by allowing Ender a stable source of basic income while he focuses on his recovery from cancer. (You're welcome to cancel your contribution at any moment, of course, but we would deeply appreciate it if you would plan on contributing for six months or more.)
Many thanks for your kindness and generosity in these dark times.
To read more about Ender in his own words, please read this appeal he wrote last year, before beginning treatment and then having to again flee El Salvador.
