We Need Your Support!

As the year comes to a close, we reflect on the strides we’ve made and the urgent work that still lies ahead. Across the world, children—particularly those with disabilities, Black and brown children, neurodivergent children, and children with a trauma history—continue to experience harmful practices like seclusion and restraint in schools. These practices not only violate their dignity but can leave lasting physical and emotional scars.

At the Alliance Against Seclusion and Restraint (AASR), we are committed to creating a world where every child is safe, respected, and supported in their learning environment. This year, thanks to supporters like you, we:

Advocated for Policy Change: We supported efforts at the local, state, and federal levels to reduce the use of restraint, end the use of seclusion, and create safer schools for students, teachers, and staff.

Provided Training: We provided training to educators, parents, and policymakers, empowering them to adopt trauma-informed, neuroscience-aligned, neurodiversity-affirming, relationship-driven, and collaborative approaches.

Supported Families: We met directly with dozens of families and offered resources and support to hundreds of families navigating these challenges.

But our work is far from over. In 2024, we aim to expand our reach, influence critical policies, and equip even more schools with the tools they need to implement compassionate alternatives.

Your support is crucial to making this happen.

By making a tax-deductible donation today, you can help us end seclusion and reduce restraint practices, ensuring that every child can learn and thrive in a safe environment.

Together, we can build a future where no child has to face fear in their place of learning.

Thank you for standing with us and for believing in the power of change. Let’s make 2024 a transformative year for our children and our communities.

With gratitude,

Guy Stephens
