In Anié, the first group of young people is preparing to take the next step.
After three years of training, the first students of the Anié Vocational Training Centre in Togo will complete their training in September 2026 and take their first steps into professional life.
Opened in December 2023 with the support of Fondation Follereau Luxembourg and its local partner, AAT-FFL, the centre gives young people who have dropped out of school, are disadvantaged or in vulnerable situations, the opportunity to learn a profession and prepare for their future.
Men’s and women’s tailoring, hair braiding and aluminium carpentry: three vocational training programmes, three sets of skills and new opportunities for these young people.
Giving them the means to get started
After three years of training, these young people have acquired the skills they need to practise their profession. But to make the transition from training to working life, they also need the right tools.
At the end of their training, each young person will receive a professional starter kit adapted to their field: hairdressing equipment, a sewing machine, a toolbox, protective equipment and other essential supplies to help them get started.
For a young person beginning their professional life, the cost of this equipment can be a significant obstacle. Having their own tools can make all the difference: allowing them to join a workshop, start working or gradually set up their own business.
