For the past decade, Samos Volunteers has existed because of you, providing essential, community-led support to people on the move on the island of Samos.
Over these 10 years, our spaces have become vital anchors for the community: places to rest, connect, access psychosocial support, and begin to regain a sense of dignity and stability. Thanks to your solidarity, we have built services shaped by the community and for the community, responding to needs as they emerge and evolve.
Today, however, we are at a critical moment.
As global attention shifts elsewhere and the humanitarian sector faces a wider funding crisis, resources in Greece have become increasingly scarce, while needs on the ground remain high. We are now facing a serious funding gap, and we need your support to ensure that our most essential services can continue.
To operate normally, Samos Volunteers requires approximately €16,000 per month, to run our educational activities, provide psychosocial support, and maintain our core operations.
This emergency fundraiser has a target of €40,000. Reaching this goal would allow us to cover roughly two to three months of core running costs, including rent, staff stipends, and essential bills, giving us crucial breathing space while we work to secure longer-term support.
In this context, we have had to make difficult but necessary choices. On Samos, we are the only organisation offering psychosocial support and providing people with safe and welcoming spaces. Protecting these services is our priority.
To make this possible and reduce our costs in 2026, we will close our clothing distribution activities towards the end of winter , where there is overlap with the work of other organisations on the island.
This campaign is about continuity, about keeping our community space and psychosocial services open and accessible in the months ahead, and about continuing to offer reliable, dignified support on Samos.
