Bella is a gentle sweet older dachshund in rescue who suddenly cried out in pain in the middle of last night. For those of you with dachshunds, you know our greatest fears. Her back had gone out, she was in pain, and she was completely paralyzed in her back end. She was rushed to the emergency room and the ER physician noted that she had lost deep pain sensation, which means that surgery is a MUST for her to have any chance of walking again. For small targeted rescue organizations like ours, this is a very difficult hurdle to accomplish and we are in the position of having to formally ask for funds to help Bella to walk again.
Bella's surgical estimate is $6,889.34 to $8,327.99. This will get her the immediate MRI this Saturday morning that she needs and she will be able to start her recovery process. In the meantime, she's at the ER under pain medication.
Bella is one of those dogs with a magical personality who only sees goodness in the world around her. Her most favorite thing is to hang out with her brother, Beastro, who she has been with for her entire 13 years. She also enjoys digging holes in the backyard of her foster home, sneaking past the dog fencing to go on safari in the garden. She relishes treats of ALL types and does a cute happy dance for treats with her front paws.

Saturday, July 16th at 11:00 a.m.
We spoke with our VE+CC emergency physician for an update on Bella. She is currently resting comfortably on Fentanyl medication for the pain. They're consulting with the neurosurgeon on staff for today at the Las Vegas Veterinary Specialty Center next door and are getting her MRI set asap. When her MRI is performed, we will get a call confirming where they see the disk leaking onto the spinal cord and then surgery will be performed. Unfortunately, with spinal cord issues, time is of the essence and all of this has to happen TODAY. Thank you for caring, sharing, and donating so that Bella has the surgery.
