UPDATE: All donations made by October 31st are being matched by a generous donor! Support dysgraphia research today and your gift will go twice as far. Any amount helps.
Do you know someone who struggles with writing? Have you been frustrated by wanting to provide help but not knowing what you can do? Dysgraphia affects more than 10% of children. That means almost 8 million students in the U.S. alone struggle with handwriting, spelling, and composition – skills that are essential for school and important in most aspects of life.
Now you can support important research into this understudied learning difference. Research that will provide insights about how people are living and managing with dysgraphia. Research that will allow new interventions and accommodations to be tested.
Dysgraphia Life is developing a research registry. A registry is a way to collect high quality data about people living with a condition. The registry will allow people with writing difficulties and parents/guardians of children with writing difficulties to share their experiences about living with dysgraphia and what is and is not working for them.
Analysis of this information will inform the education of millions of students who have writing difficulties. As the data builds, researchers will be also able to improve education by testing new interventions and comparing their effectiveness. Because dysgraphia affects more than 10% of students, there is enormous potential to improve people’s lives.
The Dysgraphia Registry is being brought to you by Dysgraphia Life - the same group, founded by a parent, who is providing education, helpful resources, and the free dysgraphia expert webinar series. All of our programming is driven by the needs of our community. Now we want to address the critical need for more research. So far, we have done the planning, proven the need, and identified key researchers, technology partners, people with dysgraphia, and parents who are helping to shape the registry.
Now we need YOUR help. We need financial support to launch this critical work. When you donate to fund the Dysgraphia Registry, you are building and sustaining this important tool to improve the lives of millions who struggle with this learning difference. You will make a difference.
October is Learning Disabilities/Dysgraphia Awareness Month. We are fundraising through the end of October to launch this critical effort. The time to support is now.
