For the past 26 years, EarthCorps has relied on Dumpy, a dump truck used to transport soil, water, plants, and countless other loads to and from restoration sites across the Puget Sound region.
Dumpy allows us to transport a 500 gallon watering tank that helps our crews to nurture young and tender plants. With summers getting hotter in the Pacific northwest, the trees and shrubs we plant require more care and watering to get them established. A dump truck like Dumpy makes this possible.
Unfortunately, after over two and a half decades of loyal service, Dumpy has reached the end of her service life. Her age has caught up with her and she is no longer safe for our Corps members to use. Dumpy has earned her retirement.
This summer, EarthCorps is launching a campaign to raise $80,000 to officially retire Dumpy and secure a new and reliable dump truck that can be used for decades to come. This new dump truck will safely keep our boots-on-the-ground Corps members moving on the work that protects habitats, removes invasive species, and restores ecosystems throughout the greater Seattle area.
