Dear Dr. Young, What happens to still existing liens on the collateral of previously discharged debt? Explanation: In January 2010 we were driven to file bankruptcy, due to circumstances that developed in the 2008 crash, and were discharged in June. Included were our first and second mortgages. Anyhow we were able to work out a modification on the first and stay in our home. However though the debt has been discharged, the 2nd mortgage lien remains as well as a 3rd lien for leased laundromat equipment. The 1st mortgage is the only thing keeping 2nd & 3rd liens at bay. So when the 1st mortgage is forgiven will numbers 2 & 3 have actionable claims or do they go away too? I look forward to your thoughts. Sincerely -- Alex Pamphilis
