šŸļø PRESSURE RIDE

Men carry pressure. We ride with it.

From 6–20 August, we’re taking on a long‑distance motorcycle ride from Land’s End to Spain, raising funds and awareness for MAN DOWN UK, a charity supporting men’s mental health through peer‑led talking groups across the UK.

This didn’t start as a charity challenge.
It started as a few mates planning a couple of weeks away on the bikes — good roads, some sun, and a proper break. When the chance to witness the total solar eclipse came up, the trip grew. And at that point, it felt right to give it more meaning.

If we were already doing the miles, why not use them to start conversations and raise money for a cause doing real work in men’s mental health?

šŸ›£ļø THE RIDE

The journey takes us from Land’s End, across Cornwall and over to France, riding south into Spain to witness the total solar eclipse. From there we continue through the Picos de Europa and Pyrenees mountains before returning to the UK by ferry.

It’s a long, multi‑day ride covering a wide range of roads, terrain, and conditions.
There’s no race and no spectacle — just turning up each day and riding on.

šŸŽˆ THE MEANING BEHIND ā€œPRESSUREā€

Throughout the ride, we’ll be carrying an inflatable passenger.

It represents the pressure many people carry without it being obvious — stress, responsibility, expectations, anxiety. The kind of weight that’s easy to miss from the outside.

Making that pressure visible isn’t about making a statement.
It’s about starting conversations — quietly, and without judgement.

Pressure doesn’t have to be carried alone.

🧠 WHY MEN’S MENTAL HEALTH?

The reality in the UK is stark:

  • Suicide is around three times more common in men than women
  • In 2024, over 6,000 suicides were registered in England and Wales
  • Men aged 45–54 have the highest suicide rates
  • Only 36% of NHS talking‑therapy referrals are men, despite clear need

Many men still feel pressure to cope, push on, or deal with things alone — which means problems are often left too late.

šŸ¤ WHY MAN DOWN?

MAN DOWN UK is a Community Interest Company founded in Cornwall that now runs informal, peer‑led talking groups across the UK.

Their approach is deliberately simple:

  • āœ… Free to attend
  • āœ… No referrals
  • āœ… No judgement
  • āœ… No pressure to talk — listening is just as welcome

Men can just turn up, sit with others who understand, and speak openly (or not). For many, these sessions are the first time they’ve ever talked honestly about how they’re really doing.

šŸ’· WHERE YOUR DONATION GOES

All donations through this page go directly to MAN DOWN UK.

Your support helps fund:

  • Regular peer‑support group sessions
  • Venues and practical costs that keep groups accessible
  • Expansion into new areas so more men can attend locally

The journey itself is supported separately by individuals and businesses — none of the donations here fund the ride.

ā¤ļø WHAT YOUR SUPPORT CAN DO

While MAN DOWN doesn’t dress impact up with marketing figures, every contribution helps keep groups running and accessible.

As a guide:

  • Ā£10 helps cover practical costs of a local group session
  • Ā£25 helps support multiple men accessing peer support
  • Ā£50+ helps sustain groups and expand support into new communities

If you’re able to donate, you’re helping create spaces where men can talk — often before things reach crisis point.

šŸļø WHY THIS RIDE?

Life isn’t a one‑day challenge.

Some days are easy.
Some are uncomfortable.
Most sit somewhere in between.

This ride mirrors that reality. There’s no finish‑line celebration — just turning up each day and continuing forward. Making pressure visible. Carrying it. Talking about it.

šŸ™Œ SUPPORT THE RIDE

If this resonates with you — whether because of your own experience, someone you know, or because you believe men deserve spaces where they don’t have to carry things alone — please consider donating.

Every contribution helps.
Every share helps too.
