The Bread & Roses Theatre is an award-winning theatre based in Clapham, South London and we're calling for your support!
Founded in 2014, we stage entertaining and inspiring productions while also providing transformational opportunities for emerging artists and companies in a creative environment that welcomes everyone.
As we approach our 10th birthday, we're committed to elevating the experience for both visiting companies and audiences.
Like many fringe venues and festivals, we don't receive any core funding, 94% of our income is generated from ticket sales. Looking ahead, it's crucial that we continue providing opportunities to the freelance creative community. Our guiding principle has always been to prioritise artistic excellence and inclusivity in our programming, which showcases both visiting companies and our in-house productions and each year, we offer a platform to numerous established and emerging theatre makers, enabling them to stage and promote their work.
Our small space and growing festival is not only a venue but a creative hub providing more equal opportunities, ethical working conditions and support especially for women, LGBTQ+, global majority and working-class creatives.

As a small company with minimal overheads, your contribution to The Bread & Roses Theatre fundraiser will directly impact our ability to upgrade the space and continue presenting entertaining and thought-provoking shows.
This year our festival, The Clapham Fringe transforms into The Lambeth Fringe, which will host 150 productions across 23 venues covering theatre, comedy, film and cabaret over 4 weeks across the borough. Our monthly Playwrights' Circle continues online and in person and supports dozens of playwrights and creatives each year. Whilst our other schemes and visiting company programming supports 1000's of freelancers to continue to create work at least financial risk possible each year.
