We've got a big year ahead of us at the Social Justice Center! We're excited to be re-opening the Social Justice Commons in the Spring – a multi-purpose, adaptable workspace at the front of our building that's part co-working space, part community resource hub. As our facility marks its 100th year, we'll be starting long overdue renovations, including critical repairs/replacements to our roof, HVAC system and storefront canopy. Together with our member organizations, community partners and our dedicated volunteers, we’re also working on more collaborative programs. These include hands-on workshops, conflict resolution and community safety teams, and public events that engage the greater community. Though immensely challenging, we've learned so much during the COVID pandemic and we want to continue building our community programs that started as a response to it. To do so, and begin the urgent infrastructure repairs, we need your help. Donate today to keep the SJC going through these transformations and invest in the bright future where we can fully serve our community.
The Social Justice Center is a neighborhood hub of social justice organizing, essential supportive services, collaboration and activism. Our 14 member organizations work on a variety of issues including housing and homelessness, restorative justice, community organizing, books to prisoners, cooperative development, art programs, and affordable financial services. We also have an incubator for new or smaller organizations and provide fiscal sponsorship to help their projects take off. Our center is also home to the Jackie Macaulay Art Gallery, community meeting and event spaces, the Willy Street pantry and a rain garden. Through shared responsibilities and governance, our aim is to create an inspiring and collaborative environment where local nonprofits, activists, artists and members of the Madison community can access resources, support and services needed to thrive.
