1. Regarding the accuracy difference between a cold-hammer forged barrel vs. a traditional button-cut rifled barrel, how big a difference of accuracy dispersion is there between the two barrels?
2. About the 4-Bolt design on AR-15/AR-10 handguards without using a barrel nut, I have been noticing more prominent companies using it such as; Daniel Defense, Savage, and etc. But, was it first created by “F&D Defense?”

I have a 300 blackout upper with a low profile gas block that has set screws. I know I can dimple the barrel where the screws are, but Is there a better replacement that uses the drill and pin method that I can possibly install myself? Thank you

I’m slowly building a HK416 clone with a 416 upper, Brownell’s barrel and bolt, and the rest German parts and it’s mostly going fine and dandy (Having trouble finding a full auto BCG so I may have to settle for a semi automatic one temporarily) but a few days ago I checked HK USA I was horrified to find out that the MR556A1 was in “limited production”. Does that mean it’s no longer being made due to the Wu Flu or that only a small amount is being made? Either way it sucks because I want the lower receiver because it retains the squared off mag well and as far as I know it’s compatible with a registered dropin autosear.
And one more thing if I were to ask Colt nicely enough you think they would sell a new production IAR upper to a normal peasant? (Non mil/cop) I really like the way it looks but the only ones I found for sale are old smelly contract guns. I’ll have to settle with them if Colt says no though.

My question from yesterday’s email.
My son has a brand new Beretta APX Combat model pistol. The thread protector on the barrel’s muzzle continually comes loose. When it comes loose it changes the point of impact. (He is not running a suppressor on the pistol at this point. This combat APX will be run unsuppressed for a while). I am pretty sure this thread protector coming loose is a common problem among threaded barrels so my question would be: is there any reliable way to keep that thread protector tight?

My M&P-15 Sport 2 has been phenomenal. I fired almost 4000 rounds of crappy Barnaul steel cased and very hot Chinese M193 surplus with zero cleaning or malfunctions. Is the M&P uniquely good for a budget AR?

Second Question:
Going back to Mark Westrom’s AR-10B rifle that took a modified M-14 magazine for its receiver (back in the early 90’s due to the Assault Weapons Ban), you’d mentioned in the past that supposedly those particular magazines were stronger than compared to the KAC SR-25 magazines. Besides that they were made from steel instead of aluminum, how else was the modified M-14 more reliable?

Second Question:
About the Sig Sauer MCX Virtus, I noticed one of the design changes that was made to the Carrier was that they added a firing pin safety (sort of similar to the HK-416/417 design with their carriers). Does the new Sig MCX Virtus or the previous models have an issue of being over gassed?

I bought an FN Hi-Power. It’s from around 1955-56. It was Austrian police issue with holster. It’s not a super clean. I want to get it modified and carry it. Should I not because it might be collectable? I could sell it and buy a newer hi-power as I’m not a collector.

Hi Chris and Heather, hope everything is well. So last weekend, I walked into a gunstore intent on buying an AR15...and walked out with a Henry Lever Action Big Boy in .357 Magnum. I did it because the cheapest AR they had was an FN Basic AR15 for over a thousand bucks. And my Lever Rifle was nearly 200 dollars cheaper. Anyway. Is the FN Basic Ar15 really worth it? Because according to what I've read online...you're better off with Ruger or Smith and Wesson for such a basic rifle for hundreds of dollars less.
And yes I am a red blooded man from Utah, I'd be dishonoring my American Heritage to NOT have lever action rifle. HAHA Happy Independence Day.
