Diagnosis Queer's #GettingStarted Campaign

The team at Diagnosis Queer has a HUGE announcement...WE HAVE ARRIVED! Dx:Q has been approved as a 501(c)3 tax-exempt non-profit organization!! To celebrate this important stepping stone we are launching our #GettingStarted Campaign and we are calling on you for help! Our team is Grand Rapids, MI based, but nation wide...and we have been hard at work creating our Queer Medical Education Workshops & Curricula, preparing for Pride Month, and continuing our #TipTuesday and #PersonalStoryFriday campaigns. We are excited to be collaborating and partnering with local organizations such as the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, OutFront Kalamazoo, Spectrum Health Hospital Systems, and more!

As our reach and programs continue to grow, our need for financial support grows with them. So...WE ARE #GETTINGSTARTED!!! Dx:Q is setting the goal for our #GettingStarted Campaign at $10,000. It is lofty, but so is our mission of strengthening queer visibility in medicine!

Donation & Program Details:

Financial donations help fund programs and administrative costs that we, at Diagnosis Queer, depend on to continue bringing access to queer health education to folks who need it most. We define our programs as:

Program 1) Our Queer Medical Education Curriculum, and its workshops, which provide queer health education to medical programs across the country. Your donation will help fund the required softwares, peer reviewed research,  networking/promotional outreach, graphic design, guest speakers, and virtual/in person sessions/stands which we administer these workshops/outreach as well as the hard work from the individuals who bring our Queer Medical Education to life

Program 2) Our educational campaigns #TipTuesdays, #PersonalStoryFridays, and Queer Holidays on Instagram and Twitter. This includes the time spent interviewing and transcribing stories, promotional materials for these programs, graphic design, and research.

We define our administrative costs as: Yearly/monthly subscriptions; for example those that are required to maintain our website domain, LinkTree, PO Box, financial bookkeeping, WaiverForever, and fundraising software. We also consider administrative costs as donation acknowledgement gifts, office supplies, stickers, pins, and non-program associated promotional materials.

[Note: If there is a different kind of program or area of effort you would like to fund, please contact us at [email protected]. We are always looking for new and exciting ways to support LGBTQ+ healthcare students, patients, and providers, and would be happy to discuss substantial funding for initiatives that you believe Dx:Q should take on.]

Diagnosis Queer is classified as an incorporated 501(c)3 tax-exempt Michigan Non-Profit Organization by the standards of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Upon approval of payment your donation will be classified as tax-deductible.

Please do not hesitate to contact our leadership via email at [email protected] for any questions regarding your current or future donations. Thank you again for your generosity and continued support. Here’s to you! We are strengthening queer visibility in healthcare...together.

Peace and Love,

The Team at Diagnosis: Queer

P.S. Aren't familiar with what we are all about? Feel free to visit our site dxqueer.com. Our mission is to strengthen queer visibility amongst patients and providers of academic and clinical medicine. We do this through sharing personal stories that serve as the foundation for unique educational experiences. Through this, we hope to better help folks understand the meaning and importance of queer healthcare that is well informed, easily accessible, patient centered, and properly integrated into the patient experience.
