THE DESERT BIENNIAL PROJECT 2027: FLUX

Support the unique and powerful cultural identity in Nevada

On April 2nd + 3rd, artists will come together to celebrate what it means to be a community-minded artist. This year’s theme, FLUX, curated by Lydia Silic, is inspired by how transformation shapes us all, collectively and individually. 48 artists were asked to consider FLUX through change, context, and time. Through monetary or in-kind donations, your support will go towards infrastructure for the exhibition and transportation of the works across the state, from the Jean Roach Dry Lakebed and beyond!

The Desert Biennial Project aims to celebrate community, culture, and creativity. Mindful of the way art influences our society, we are inviting everyone to join in. By championing this project, you will connect Nevadans to art, as well as connect artists to necessary platforms to express themselves and bold perspectives about collaboration and the future.

The DBP is an artist-run project under the ACCNV that ensures Nevada-based artists have access to create change in their community, transformative outlets to express themselves, and access to the public. FLUX connects artists to experimental experiences, unlocking new potential for artists, while inviting the community to engage with the rich desert landscape. Join us as we collectively contribute to the betterment of our state and the well-being of those who inhabit it.

Through your contributions, we can cultivate the future of art in Nevada, by unifying artists from across the state. Not only will you be providing an opportunity for the community to come together, but help sustain a future of synergy and joy.

The $10,750 budget breaks down below:

$2500: transportation of the works across the state

$2000: One of a kind commissioned artwork that functions as the heart and stage of this year's biennial, by Luke Rizzotto

$4000: Permitting with the Bureau of Land Management

$500: Water

$1000: Budget for photographers (2) and videographer (1)

$750: Equipment rental including generators, gas (fuel), safety lighting, signage, and accessibility support.
