Our Honeymoon for Freedom: 24 Hours. 50 Miles. $5,000 for Survivors
The Overview:
Most newlyweds go on a beach trip for their honeymoon. We’re spending ours walking 50 miles in 24 hours. Why? Because love is more than romance - it’s choosing to say YES to something bigger than ourselves.
Just days after we get married on October 18th, and right after Karena’s 48th birthday on October 22nd, we’ll step onto the course of the Equalizer Endurance Race in Des Moines, Iowa. For 24 hours straight, we’ll walk, run, and push toward 50 miles - all to raise funds for Daylight United, an organization fighting human trafficking and supporting survivors around the world.
The Cause:
Daylight United works in the U.S. and globally to:
- Fund rescue missions that bring victims out of exploitation.
- Provide aftercare like trauma therapy, safe housing, and transitional employment.
- Strengthen cyber investigations to fight online abuse.
- Raise awareness through music, storytelling, and advocacy.
Every dollar fuels freedom.
Our Goal:
We’ve set a fundraising goal of $5,000. That number is big for us — but it’s bold enough to make a real difference. $5,000 could:
