Henna Crowns of Courage was created from the belief that every person deserves to feel beautiful, witnessed and connected to their courage, especially during seasons of illness, uncertainty and transformation.
Through the ceremonial art of henna, we have offered cancer survivors more than temporary body art. A henna crown can become a moment of dignity, creative expression and remembrance: a reminder that a person is so much more than what they are currently experiencing.
After a quieter season, Henna Crowns of Courage is preparing to step into its next chapter.
We are strengthening the foundation of the nonprofit, bringing the organization into full good standing and developing the structure needed to serve more people with integrity, consistency and care.
Our First Goal: $1,000
This initial campaign will help fund the essential professional and organizational work required to move Henna Crowns of Courage forward.
Donations will support:
Nonprofit tax, compliance and professional filing assistance
Bookkeeping and administrative organization
The development of a strong and engaged board of directors
Updated systems for donations, programming and community partnerships
The early development of somatic henna experiences for cancer survivors
The vision for self-adornment kits that may eventually be shared with hospitals and care communities
Future training for henna artists who feel called to offer this work with compassion and sensitivity
This is about creating a strong foundation beneath a mission that deserves to continue.
The Vision Ahead
We envision Henna Crowns of Courage becoming a growing network of artists, survivors, hospitals and healing communities.
Our future vision includes:
Offering meaningful henna crown experiences to cancer survivors
Creating gentle somatic art practices that support self-expression and connection
Developing accessible self-adornment resources and henna kits
Training artists in compassionate, trauma-aware and ceremonial approaches to henna
Creating hospital art installations featuring survivor portraits and henna crowns to bring inspiration, dignity and human connection into clinical spaces.
Building partnerships with hospitals, wellness organizations and cancer-support communities
These programs are still being thoughtfully developed. This campaign gives us the support needed to establish the organization properly before expanding the work.
