Callahan Murphy Hare Foundation

About

The Callahan Murphy Hare Foundation was established in August 2021 by Matt and Kate Hare following the birth of their son, Callahan. Callahan was diagnosed with rare infant B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) the day after he was born on April 12, 2021. While ALL is the most common pediatric cancer in older children, it is rare in babies, with approximately 90 babies diagnosed globally each year.

As Kate and Matt navigated Callahan’s treatment journey and learned more about pediatric cancers in general, they recognized the importance of fostering national and international collaboration across organizations, healthcare systems and researchers to find new and kinder therapy options for children fighting cancer, along with advocating for early detectionFunds raised through this foundation will benefit specific research and drug development programs at children’s hospitals around the country.

CAR-T cell therapy is one of the latest innovations in cancer treatment, that enables more targeted therapy by modifying the patient’s T-cells to more effectively attack the cancer. This type of treatment has been proven to also improve long term side effects.
