Purewish Junior School is a tuition-free school for vulnerable children in Lira City, operated by Purewish Foundation Uganda, a community-based organisation serving children, youth, and women in post-conflict Northern Uganda since 2014. Earlier this year, this community came together and raised $740 to install a water tank that kept the school open. The doors opened. The children went back.
Now we have a new challenge.
Six teachers and seven support staff have been showing up every morning, teaching every class, and supporting every child, without receiving a salary. They agreed to keep coming. We owe it to them to make sure they get paid.
We are raising $3,000 to cover one full school term of teacher and staff salaries.
