Why we need your help
As with so many congregations around the world, the COVID 19 pandemic and the effect it has had on the ex-pat community here, transport into and out of Thailand means the congregation of St George's has got smaller, whilst the needs in our immediate community have grown.
Those who would normally attend or who we would expect to be visiting us as they visit our city have simply found themselves unable to attend either because of lock-down, closed borders and cancelled flights. Over the last year, this has been devastating to us and to the community locally where the majority of the economy was reliant on tourism.
Some of our congregation who live here permanently have found themselves stranded as they visited relatives abroad!
At its core, this has meant that we are finding it hard to contribute towards the costs of our beloved chapel which sits within the grounds of the Father Ray Foundation. The contribution we make in lieu of using the space contributes towards their invaluable work.
It has also meant that the regular support we normally provide to local charitable causes including MERCY has also dried up.
The difference you can make
Therefore, do know that any gift to us fulfils four distinctly positive functions.
First, it enables us to Glorify His name.
Next, by enabling us to worship, your contribution further assists the Children who benefit from the wonderful and worthy work of the Father Ray Foundation.
Then, we would normally raise monies to support and assist the essential works of MERCY who help so many in our community.
Finally, we need funds to further develop our own Ministry work in the community, to help those whose needs cannot be met elsewhere by the existing provision, particularly in the areas of Welfare (Housing, Health, Education & Employment).
In all cases, we will keep you updated with Facebook fan page of the difference you have made by helping us.
How your contribution gets to us
It looks convoluted - but we have tested it and it works!
Because we are not big enough to qualify for a bank account yet, our Ordinand, Lloyd Hobbard-Mitchell who has a Limited Company in Thailand and a Paypal Merchant account, has agreed to make those resources freely available to us.
Using a wonderful service called Donorbox.org, your contribution travels via PayPal to Pandora Co., Ltd and English eClass.cn, before being transferred to our Church Warden and Treasurer, Liz Shepherd.
When your contribution to us is confirmed by email, you will see some or all of the following details and if you do, you can be reassured:
- Lloyd Hobbard-Mitchell
- Pandora Co., Ltd.
- English eClass.cn
- "donation to St George's Church Appeal from...."
