Centuries ago, people lit candles on Christmas trees to symbolise hope in the darkest season - a flicker of warmth, a reminder of light overcoming darkness. Over time, candles became electric lights, adorning homes and streets in joyful celebration.

But in rural Ethiopia, many maternity clinics remain in darkness. There, light isn’t decoration - it’s survival. When night falls, midwives deliver babies by torchlight and critical equipment like fridges fail to store medicine at necessary temperatures.
