"She always kept a small container of food and water with her in case she found a stray animal, or came across one in need.
One day several years ago, after dropping our daughters off at school, she pulled off the road for a dog laying in the weeds. She thought for sure it was injured or in distress.
However, when she approached the dog, an Australian Shepherd, jumped up and ran past her to jump in the car. After an exhaustive and unsuccessful search for his owners she was able to find him a home with a rancher. His forever home allowed him to live, doing what he was meant to do.
Although she cared for all pets, she held a special place in her heart for cats. If a stray would pass by the house she wouldn’t hesitate to provide it some food and water, or a warm and safe place to sleep until it was ready to move along."
