Dear Supporter:
When the Clarksville Community Players dream, we dream big. And recently, we got big news! The Cabell Foundation has agreed to match dollar for dollar your donations toward the renovation of the Clarksville Fine Arts Center.
The mission of The Cabell Foundation is to support efforts like ours. Like us, they have made a major commitment to the cultural arts, increasing access to public spaces, supporting performing arts venues and preserving historic structures.
Over the years the Players have built a strong organization, but no major renovations have ever been done to the building. The historic building’s basic structure is sound, so it has the potential to be a state-of-the-art facility. Our planned renovations will allow the Players to expand their offerings of theater, music, dance, workshops, art exhibits and other community events.
This challenge grant of $150,000 will ensure completion of the lobby renovations and the addition of bathrooms. But, we need your help to make this a reality. We won’t receive any matching funds unless we raise $150,000 in new donations.
We hope you will embrace our dream of creating something special in the heart of Clarksville. Together, we can make a lasting impact for generations to come.
Enclosed is a pledge card and envelope to mail back your contribution or pledge. You can also visit ClarksvilleFineArtsCenter.org to make a secure online donation. All donations and new pledges received after November 15, 2018 qualify for the 100% match. Your contribution of $50, $100, $250, or $500 will actually be worth double. For example, if you give $250, it will actually be worth $500.
Please join us in this effort.
Significance to the community: In 2002, the main business district of Clarksville was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. The only institutional building included in this designation is The Clarksville Fine Arts Center. It is the only place many children and adults can participate in music, dance, and theater arts. It has grown to include programs for children, young adults, and seniors. The facility also serves as a gathering place for community celebrations and performances. The Fine Arts Center is the only such facility serving this Kerr Lake community.
When The Clarksville Players began in 1973, the members were grateful for a place to perform. They have worked hard over the years to keep the building functioning and available to the public for a variety of purposes. But, today the building is in need of essential repairs and renovations. This campaign will include modern, accessible bathrooms, technical upgrades to lighting and sound, along with improvements to the lobby and backstage facilities.
