The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development emphasizes the principle of ‘leaving no one behind’.
Globally, nearly 8% of all households are headed by single parent - with 84% of them mothers. This represents 101.3 million single mothers who live alone with their children and the numbers are rising.
Between the challenge of juggling the unpaid work of raising children alone, the barriers they face in accessing decent work, and the exclusion and stigmatization from society, single mothers and their children are all too often among the poorest, with particularly dire consequences for the future of those children.
In almost every country, single-mother households with young children have higher rates of poverty when compared to dual-parent households with young children. Here at GER, we hope to change all that.
We are aiming to raise $50,000 in support of our single mothers and orphaned families. Our objectives :
1. Provide livelihood programs
2. Enhance educational opportunities
3. Financial support
4. Monthly food aid
Together, we can make this Rabi’ul Awwal a season of hope and compassion. Join us at the charity concert, or contribute online to bring smiles to the faces of orphaned children and empower single mothers in our community.
