You can help build Little Trees Nurtury in Mannar! 

A Preschool for Mannar, Northern Sri Lanka

Hello everyone! 

For a few years, I’ve been helping Little Leaders Foundation here in the Netherlands – a non-profit organization which focuses on early childhood development around the world. 

Why am I helping Little Leaders? 

I’m incredibly lucky to have grown up in family and community where support was freely given, and I benefitted from an education that provided the tools to succeed in life. It’s a privilege to have grown up with so few hurdles to overcome, but not everyone gets that chance.

Early childhood education is so important – not just to give us information and skills to succeed, but also to help form our character and to expose us to situations which inform our behaviour and values as we grow.

Little Leaders focusses on childhood development, and if I can give back even just a fraction of the stability I benefitted from in that period, then it’ll be well worth it.

So, what are Little Leaders asking for?

2022 was an exciting year for Little Leaders with a special highlight: the Little Trees Nurtury.

The Little Trees Nurtury is a preschool that’s currently under construction in Mannar, an island off the coast of Sri Lanka that is particularly affected by a number of societal issues. Poverty, drug addiction and even suicide are common on the island, while various cultural, religious, and ethnic differences create divisions within the local community.

As in any community, if nothing is done to heal the issues of the present, they can create very real dangers to future generations. By creating a safe space for quality education – both for local children and the wider community – the Little Trees Nurtury will help the community of Mannar by bringing people together from across social divides, to learn, to develop and to grow side by side.

To help move the Little Trees Nurtury forward, Little Leaders are asking for donations to continue the construction of the school. Building is well underway already, but your donation would help to keep the work going and ensure that the preschool is opening its doors for lessons as soon as possible.

I know that costs of living are rising for us all, but any amount, little or large, will go a long way and really help to ensure that the Little Trees Nurtury, and the people of Mannar, have a bright future ahead.
