The Közép-Budai Waldorf School had been operating in Budapest, District II for nine years when we suddenly learned we had to leave our rented location. A tremendous community effort began: in just one year, we renovated and expanded an empty municipal building to ensure that 141 children wouldn't lose their school and community.
This school creates value in the world by nurturing thoughtful, empathetic, and active individuals. The work here not only shapes the future of the children but also builds the future of the community.
Now, we need external help to complete the first phase of construction. A generous supporter has pledged to match all donations, doubling their impact, if we collect 30 million HUF.
In this campaign we're targeting 10.000 EUR (~4 million HUF). Help us today! Every donation counts twice.
Construction work
This spring, the II. District Municipality opened a tender for a vacant kindergarten building, and with the wholehearted support of the local council, we secured the opportunity to transform it into our new, permanent base. The six-classroom structure, initially designed for preschoolers, lays a reliable foundation, but it requires renovation, restructuring, and expansion to evolve into an 8-class school with specialized rooms, communal spaces, and offices. The estimated cost of this endeavor is a substantial yet realistically manageable investment of at least 400 million Hungarian Forints.
Architectural design of the new building Waldorf education relies on the active involvement of parents, who already generously pledged over 50 million forints towards our new school project, in addition to their regular monthly contributions covering less than half of our operational costs. Beyond this, we are reaching out to individuals and businesses who share our commitment to human-centered, free education and envision leaving a lasting impact through supporting such a school.
