Hi family. Wanted to post an update that's difficult to describe. Our Mamo Javier, one of our mayores from the Wiwa tribe has had 4 of his children taken by a hysterically acting Family Services branch of the local San Rafael government. Long story short, they don't like the conscious community - and have chose to try to intimidate us. Without due process, or any warning they showed up at our community with THE ARMY and forcibly took 4 of our children from the territory.
They claimed poor conditions for the children, which was independently proven to be false.
A local judge ruled they return the children immediately, which they have ignored.
We are currently mounting a legal case against the Family Services branch and as we have already won one battle against them, it's only a matter of time.
But for now - this is a very stressful and challenging time for us.
