Since 1990, Buck Scholars have gone on to attend some of the most prestigious schools in the world and do amazing things. Now, thanks to their support, a new generation of Buck Fellows is receiving the mentorship and financial resources needed to attend summer enrichment programs and attend some of these same prestigious schools.
Did you know that low-income, high-achieving students are less likely to attend selective colleges than their higher-income peers? Most of our Fellows are high-achieving, low-income students who we believe are set to become leaders and are attending highly selective schools. Thanks to our ongoing efforts to foster and celebrate our community of close to 300 Scholars and Fellows through year-round events, not only are Scholars cultivating life-long friendships, but they are also connecting and mentoring our Fellows. Due to these Fellow-Scholar connections, Fellows are receiving knowledge about college and taking advantage of internship and job opportunities, for example, that are harder to come by without access to a network like the BSA. Lastly, thanks to the financial support Fellows receive, they were able to cover the fees and the cost of materials to access the competitive application process at some of the top schools they are attending:
- Stanford University
- Yale University
- UC Berkeley
- Notre Dame
- UCLA
- USC
- Vanderbilt
- Washington University in St. Louis
- and more.
Your donation will also allow us to continue to organize regional and virtual events like the ones we hosted in 2022:
- LA and SF Happy Hours
- East Bay Picnic at the Park
- Sacramento Lunch
- South Bay/Penninsula Day at the Museum
- BSA's Big Fall Gathering
- and, our Annual Winter Gathering (virtual).
Help us reach our goal by December 2022 to continue making a difference and cultivating our BSA family.
