At Keep Going K9s, our mission is to train service dogs that provide Veterans and First Responders with the support they need to overcome daily challenges and regain confidence in their lives. Recently, Brad, a U.S. Coast Guard veteran, was matched with Jarrott, a highly trained German Shepherd who will assist him in navigating the challenges of civilian life. After 20 years of service, including a deployment to AFRICOM and time spent as an NTSB trained Maritime Accident Investigator, Brad has dedicated his life to protecting others. Now retired, he remains a devoted husband to his wife, a fellow veteran who serves in a demanding career, and a dedicated father to their three children. Brad and Jarrott are working with our trainers to learn all the skills that will help Brad navigate life with greater confidence and independence. Jarrott is there to provide steady support, whether it’s guiding Brad through crowds, assisting with mobility, or offering emotional comfort. Their bond is growing stronger, and together, they’re not just tackling challenges—they’re overcoming them, side by side.
The cost to raise, train, and prepare a service dog like Jarrott is approximately $20,000. These funds cover everything from early training to advanced task-specific preparation tailored to Brad’s unique needs.
