My name is François and from December to April I will travel by bike from Arequipa in the south of Peru all the way to Bogota in Colombia.
During six months I have volunteered with Intiwawa, a Peruvian-German NGO dedicated to improving the lives of children and families through education and empowerment projects. After working with Intiwawa and witnessing the great impact they have first hand, I decided to dedicate my journey to support their work.
With this journey and your help, I would like to support Intiwawa’s projects by raising one Peruvian Sol for each kilometer I bike. This means that one Euro will cover four kilometers of my trip.
The first step of this adventure led me from Arequipa to Coporaque in the beautiful Colca Valley where Intiwawa supports local communities with cultural and environmental projects.
For the second step of this journey, I biked 400km to Abancay, between cones and canyons in the beautiful pampa of the south of Peru.
In this third step, I finally got to ride the famous Peru Great Divide! The route connects a rich network of active and abandoned mining roads that crisscross the Peruvian Andes. It runs for a total of 1600km from Abancay to Huaraz with a expected 1500m of elevation gain per day for a total ascent of 38 000m!
Every donation will go straight to Intiwawa’s projects and every little bit can make a great difference.
Thank you for your generosity!
