Bears for Schools was launched on July 13, 2021, and since then we have learned about 26 students who have lost one or both parents to cancer, heart attack, COVID-19, murder, and tragic accidents. Seven more children have had one or more parents deported.
Separation, whether by death or deportation, is a traumatic experience, often bringing feelings of confusion, abandonment, and deep sorrow.
There may be no greater need for comfort for a child than during this time.
Bears for Schools provides a super soft 15-inch high quality teddy bear to students and their younger siblings suffering a loss.
100% of your donation goes to purchase and delivery of a teddy bear to a Rockingham County student and their not-yet-school-age sibling(s).
Teddy bears are shipped immediately upon need and directly to the school. RCEF coordinates with school faculty and staff to ensure the bears are given to the child at school.
To give one or more bears, click the orange "Donate" button. We will notify you when your bear has been sent.
You can send your bear in honor or memory of someone too.
Thank you from the bottom of our furry hearts for the comfort you are about to bring a child.
