Ordinarie Heroes (OH) is a Black-led nonprofit dedicated to tackling educational and health disparities in under-resourced communities, empowering young people not just to overcome challenges but to thrive in the long term. The "IE" in our name stands for I’m Enough because we believe that ordinary people can drive extraordinary change. At OH, we know that community is our greatest superpower, and we approach every initiative with inclusion, dignity, and joy at its core.
Our mission is rooted in empowering youth from historically marginalized communities through creative, skills-based education, collaborative leadership development, and holistic well-being. We understand that to truly cultivate the potential of our youth, we must also support the environments that shape their lives. That’s why we’re committed to addressing the systemic issues that affect their communities, breaking cycles of disadvantage, and rewriting the narrative for future generations.
At OH, our youth-focused programs include:
- Weekly Leadership Development Sessions that inspire young leaders.
- College & Career Preparation to help youth navigate their future.
- Reading and Math Support to strengthen academic skills.
- Photography and Film Programs that empower creative self-expression.
In addition, our community-centered initiatives tackle food insecurity through:
- A Mobile Food Pantry delivering over 25,000 pounds of food annually.
- A Community Garden offering fresh produce and nutrition education.
By joining us, you become part of a movement that uplifts, inspires, and creates lasting change. Together, we can ensure that young people—and their communities—have the tools to succeed.
Superheroes don’t change the world—ordinary people like you do. Be a hero today and help us continue this vital work!
