We are raising $3,000 to provide 2SLGBTQIA+/BIPOC Affirming Spirit Care within our community of Germantown and the Greater Philadelphia area. We invite you to support this work in ways that are nourishing for you!

Who We Are:

Black.Bird.Rising (BBR) is a healing community created for Black, Queer, and Trans individuals and their allies. It provides a safe, inclusive space for rest, creativity, and healing through practices like bodywork, herbal remedies, and workshops. Founded in September 2023—with a physical space opening in February 2024—BBR has grown into a collective of healers, artists, and activists. The BBR community is dedicated to fostering multi-generational healing and is working toward becoming a cooperatively owned space with support from the Philadelphia Area Cooperative Alliance.

Nurture & Thrive Campaign

At Black.Bird.Rising, we believe in the power of nurturing rest, healing, and liberation for Black TGNC (Trans/Gender Non-Conforming) community members. Our Nurture & Thrive Campaign is about planting seeds for growth — in our apothecary, in our leadership, and in our collective well-being.

This campaign is a call to action for our community, our partners, and allies to help us provide life-affirming care, healing practices, and equitable support for those who need it most. By joining us, you’re not just donating to a cause — you’re investing in the futures of Black Trans and GNC people, creating spaces where we can thrive together.

With your help, we will:

  • Grow our community apothecary, providing access to herbal care, wellness resources, and tools for healing.

  • Nurture our leadership, ensuring that Black Trans people are compensated and empowered to lead, heal, and support others.

  • Create free community care spaces, sponsored by solidarity partners, offering reiki, yoga, and other wellness practices to those who need them the most.

  • Raise $10,000 in 60 days, ensuring that BBR has the resources to continue our vital work and expand our impact.

Whether you give $250, $500, $750, or $1,000, every contribution helps us create a thriving future where healing, rest, and liberation are accessible to all. Together, we can nurture the change we want to see and ensure that our community is supported, cared for, and empowered to thrive.

Black.Bird.Rising Goals

  1. Complete fundraising for the apothecary by raising the remaining $2,700.
The apothecary will serve as a healing resource hub, offering herbal remedies, wellness kits, and ancestral care tools curated by and for Black TGNC community members.

  2. Establish equitable compensation and decision-making power for trans people carrying out BBR’s day-to-day operations.
This includes raising an additional $2,000 per month to provide two small monthly stipends, creating sustainable support for core community members who lead and sustain BBR’s programming, logistics, and care work.

  3. Increase paid partnerships with nonprofits and businesses by offering BBR as a staff wellness and stress management resource.
We aim to secure at least 5 monthly clients who contract BBR to provide healing modalities—such as reiki, yoga, and herbal care—for their staff, generating sustainable income and expanding our impact.

  4. Create monthly free community care spaces financially sponsored by solidarity partners at $500 per offering.
Each gathering will be fully funded by partners committed to healing justice, allowing BTGNC community members to access rest, reiki, herbal care, and community connection at no cost, while sustaining the labor and materials involved.

  5. Raise $10,000 in 60 days as part of our spring campaign.
This ambitious goal will support the continuation of our healing work, allow us to expand our offerings, and provide vital resources for both program development and community care. We also aim to honor the season of renewal by planting a seed in our community’s collective growth, symbolizing our commitment to growth, healing, and sustainability.
