Watershed Warriors Project is Live!
Every environmental leader starts with a single moment of discovery. BayQuest's Watershed Warriors program transforms students into active field scientists through an immersive curriculum that bridges traditional learning with hands-on conservation.
This impactful program is a proud collaboration with Oakland's Latitude High School and Friends of Sausal Creek, bringing together local education, community restoration, and maritime exploration.

This comprehensive program features:
- Classroom & Field Studies: Interactive classroom preparation pairs with wildlife surveys, water quality sampling, and native plant restoration field trips led by Friends of Sausal Creek in the Sausal Creek Watershed.
- Indigenous Stewardship: Students explore deep-rooted ecological history, learning how to care for our waterways through ancestral land and water stewardship practices.
- The Research Eco-Tour: Boarding at Jack London Square, Latitude High School students step onto our research sailing vessel to conduct waterfront surveys, sample open water, perform plankton pulls for microscope analysis, and listen to marine life with a hydrophone. Every student even gets a turn taking the helm!
- Filmmaking and Storytelling: Students will document the entire journey and produce two powerful 10-minute documentary films advocating for watershed protection and sharing the experience with the community!

We have just completed 2 field trips to Fern Ravine in the upper watershed of Oakland, California. Next stop, Dimond Park in the middle watershed before hopping on a boat and heading out on the bay!
