An exciting new mission of science and discovery is getting underway on San Francisco Bay and needs your help. . .
BayQuest is a fully-incorporated, nonprofit start-up team of professional captains and marine science educators dedicated to the conservation of whales and other endangered marine life on the bay and near-coastal waters.
The goal of this vessel-based work is to help put researchers and marine scientists safely out on the water monitoring sensitive aquatic life and gathering valuable data to assess the health of this important ecosystem. This important mission also provides young people from vulnerable communities, an opportunity to experience hands-on marine science and be an active part of these efforts.
Increasing vessel traffic and the impacts of climate change are having an effect on our local biodiversity and makes this vital mission of discovery more important now than ever!
Your donation today will help us to get off the ground and out on the water monitoring endangered wildlife and collecting valuable data to assess the health and biodiversity of this vibrant ecosystem.
Help us get marine science professionals and researchers out on the bay while building teams of citizen scientists among young people from underserved communities throughout the Bay Area.
Your contribution today will go towards vital start-up costs such as:
•. Vessel Acquisition/Operations
•. Education Program Materials
•. Community Outreach & Collaboration
•. Website and Data Collection Technology
•. Research Technology & Staffing
Your financial support will also help fund these critical conservation efforts:
The BayQuest team has been actively engaged with marine science professionals, research organizations, educational institutions and local community leaders and have developed two exciting new initiatives:
BayQuest SeaSounds Project is a vessel-based passive acoustic monitoring program to take underwater hydrophone recording samples near the Golden Gate Bridge and in the Greater Farallones National Marine Sanctuary near the shipping lanes.
BayQuest Rising Tides is a community-driven education and outreach project to engage young people in the most vulnerable communities of Oakland, Richmond and South San Francisco/Bayview Hunters Point. It involves shoreline field science nature activities and a series of 3-hour ecotours of the San Francisco Bay.
BayQuest is seeking funding opportunities through grants, corporate sponsorships and the generosity of individual donors who want to help protect the heath and wildlife of our beloved San Francisco Bay. So far, the effort has been entirely self-funded and has come from an immense amount of time and hard work on the part of the team.
Join the crew and be part of this important Quest. . . please donate today!
Thank You!
