Goal
$12000 for our trip to Kuala Lumpur:
With your help, AXS Lab will attend the World Urban Forum in Kuala Lumpur this February! This will be a huge step for providing people with disabilities in Malaysia the technology they need to plan routes. $12,000 of this campaign will go towards travel and accommodation for 3 members of the AXS Lab team for 10 days in Malaysia.
$18000 for the development of AXS Lab 2.0:
Your donations will also assist AXS Lab in development of AXS Map 2.0, an improved version of our popular mobile application. AXS Map 2.0 will have several new features that make the application more effective and user-friendly, including:
- a new interface
- streamlined rating systems
- real-time data
- progressive-web app capabilities so users don't have to go into Google Play or the App Store to download the tool
- API's that allow cross-platform data between accessibility applications which will increase total AXS Map reviews by over 500%!
AXS Map & AXS Mapathon Overview:
AXS Map is a mobile application that uses modern mapping technology to rate and review places on their level of accessibility (kind of like Yelp, but for rating accessibility). This application is playing a major role in helping people with disabilities in route planning, as well as assisting our partners in the United Nations in achieving Sustainable Development Goal 4a, creating inclusive schools for ALL students, including those with disabilities.
AXS Mapathon events were inspired by the AXS Map application. These community events involve participants breaking up into teams and, using the AXS Map application, competing to rate and review as many places as possible. With the AXS Mapathon, we have found a way to incentivize participants to collect essential data on disability by making the process of data collection fun, communal, and competitive.
The World Urban Forum:
Between February 7-13, we will be conducting an AXS Mapathon event at the World Urban Forum in Malaysia. With help from our partners at United Nations, UNICEF, UNESCO, and local organizations in Malaysia, we will coordinate organizations across Malaysia to conduct Mapathons throughout the duration of the World Urban Forum. Citizens from all over Malaysia will be coming together for a friendly competition that promotes inclusivity and accessibility. Our interactive map at the World Urban Forum will provide live updates as data is being collected, allowing participants of the Forum to see the our collective effort as it develops.
