The first trip for Awakening Fire will be October 26 - November 4. Danny Schrock, Doran Wengerd, Jordan Mullet & Kevin Nisley will be traveling to Thika, Kenya. The first crusade will be that Friday, Saturday and Sunday close to the city. The crusade will be supported by Bishop Titus Mbai's church Destiny Worship Center. They will provide the support, worship, altar and support teams to help make the crusade successful.
The Awakening Fire team will be staying at Titus's home during the crusade. The following week, the team will take time to review what went right and wrong, as well as plan for 2023.
Titus's heart is to have three to five crusades a year ranging from four to five-day crusades. Titus also has a call to establish churches in seven different nations (many of which he already has churches) and to use the Gospel Truck in each nation to share the gospel. The countries are Kenya, Uganda, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Zambia & Tanzania.
What happens every time someone goes on a short-term mission trip? They come back on FIRE. They set out with the purpose and intent to make a difference and most times the biggest difference is what happens inside of them. The opportunity to get away from everyday life, see a different culture, and have time away has an incredible impact on them.
They hear the voice of the Lord more clearly. They have incredible God moments or "divine appointments". You could even call them FIRE appointments. These "FIRE appointments" have the power to change the person's reality and their world when they come back to "everyday life".
In Luke 3:16-17 John the baptist said “I baptize you with water; but someone is coming soon who is greater than I am—so much greater that I’m not even worthy to be his slave and untie the straps of his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. He is ready to separate the chaff from the wheat with his winnowing fork. Then he will clean up the threshing area, gathering the wheat into his barn but burning the chaff with never-ending fire.”
Well, what about pastors? What do short-term missions look like for them? Do they have the same opportunities? The same FIRE appointments?
"Bring 3-5 preachers with you". That is what Bishop Titus Mbai told Jordan Mullet it would take to run a successful crusade in East Africa. That would be enough preachers to evangelize the crowds, train the pastors and encourage the churches.
As the Awakening Fire team, (Danny Schrock, Doran Wengerd & Jordan Mullet) sat before the Lord, it became clear. These trips are about the pastors. The ones that serve day in and day out. Sacrificing their time and energy and even families to serve the Lord and build the Kingdom.
The pastors would be helping us by building up the church of East Africa and we would be able to bless them by creating FIRE appointments for the pastors.
When Jordan Mullet called his cousin Danny Schrock to tell him the good news about the Gospel Truck, Danny said something profound. "The African's need what we have but they also have something that we need as well. We will create a pipeline of Fire between East Africa and our community."
After Jordan returned to Ohio, he began meeting with Danny and Doran Wengerd. The goal was to spend time together and before the Lord to discover what call and purpose for this new opportunity.
Two connections became clear very quickly. The connection with Reinhard Bonnke and the Fire of the Holy Spirit was the first. The second was a bit of a surprise.
Doran was sharing about the calling the Lord had given him and used the words "Awaken Greatness". Jordan stopped him and said "Wait, why did you use those specific words". Doran pulled up a list of five things the Lord had shared with him and right there at the bottom were the words "Awaken Greatness". Jordan was stunned. "That is the same call the Lord gave me in 2015. "I am called to Awaken Greatness in people for the Kingdom". Danny just shook his head and began to share of a special time that the Lord gave him a dream about Paul Revere and a giant horse and the call to "Awaken"!
The call began to become clearer and clearer... Awaken... Fire... Awaken the Fire... Awakening Fire. Now we had a name and a vision.
The Gospel Truck
The Gospel Truck is designed to be able to pull into any village or city and be ready to set up and share the gospel.
The truck is equipped with...
- Mercedes semi-truck
- 40kw generator for plenty of off-grid power
- Bunk beds for the crew
- Folding stage that sets up on either side
- Audio system for music and worship
- Lighting system for night setup
The truck was purchased and ready for use in 2020. However, it was only used one time before being parked permanently for two years during the pandemic. During this time, the graphics faded and it became difficult to maintain payments on the remaining balance for the truck.
After Jordan Mullet returned to the US, he shared his new partnership with his family and friends. After sharing with a local businessman, the man was moved when he heard there was still a remaining balance on the truck. Responding to Holy Spirit he wrote out a check for the remaining balance. Now the Gospel Truck is PAID IN FULL!
In the past months, the truck has been updated with new graphics and checked from top to bottom to ensure it is ready to roll. It has even been out on a few test runs.
The first crusade is scheduled for the last weekend in October. October 28, 29 and 30.
From Jordan Mullet
Ever since I reconnected with Bishop Titus Mbai, there was a question that I wanted to ask him.
Titus is from Kenya, Africa. Kenya is located in east Africa and he has churches in several different nations. I was wondering what Titus thought about Reinhard Bonnke.
Reinhard was a missionary to Africa who received a vision from God of a blood-washed Africa and the words "Africa Shall Be Saved". Through his ministry Christ For All Nations (CFAN) he led gospel crusades (first in tents and eventually open air) all throughout Africa from Capetown to Cairo. During his lifetime (Reinhard passed away in 2019) they saw 75,000,000 people make the decision to follow Jesus.
Several years ago, my friend Doran Wengerd received a prophecy that his ministry would be similar to Reinhard Bonnke's. Feeling prompted by Holy Spirit to go and pray with Reinhard, he headed south to Orlando, FL the next day. Through God's grace he was able to attend Reinhard's last Fire conference and received a Holy Spirit anointing when Reinhard laid hands on him and prayed.
After learning of Reinhard from Doran, Reinhard has had an incredible impact on my life as I have read his autobiography and watch countless of his sermons and crusades on Youtube. Seeing the move of God impact Africa in such an incredible way helped to awaken a call of God on my life to go to the nations.
A few years later, my cousin Danny Schrock responded to a call from Holy Spirit to attend CFAN's Evangelism Boot Camp in Orlando. Being one of only 100 people selected to attend, Danny was trained from A to Z on the tools needed to take the Gospel to the nations.
Two days before leaving Kenya, we were driving back to Thika and I finally asked Titus my question. "What do you think of Reinhard Bonnke"? You would have thought I set off a firecracker in the truck. "Reinhard! Reinhard's my man!" Excitedly, he began to tell me of his connection to Reinhard and his surprise at me knowing about him. Titus was involved in supporting CFAN's crusades in Kenya and even was the central point for literature distribution for many years in the late 80's - early 90's.
Titus, in that moment, offered me the Gospel Truck that his ministry had built. "The truck is yours! Don't even ask if you can have it. Why would you ask for what the Lord has already given you? Just text me when you are on your way and I will have the truck ready! If you tell me you want to go to this village, we will go. If you tell me we want to go to this city, we will go!"
I guess my question was anwered. Not only was Titus "OK" with Reinhard Bonnke. It turns out Reinhard was the catalyst for a whole new adventure!

In the spring of 2022, Jordan Mullet traveled to Thika, Kenya to spend time with his spiritual dad, Bishop Titus Mbai and his wife Jaminah.
Titus and Jordan first met in 1998 when Titus gave an altar call at a small church in Walnut Creek, Ohio and Jordan responded. Jordan was responding to an invitation that Jesus gave him several weeks earlier that if he gives his life to him, he will make his life add up.
After seeing each other only one more time briefly a few years later, the Lord arranged for them to be back in the same church on Mother's Day 20 years later. What a divine appointment! They were able to connect again in Phoenix in September 2019 and then again in Ohio in July, 2021.
On that visit, Titus invited Jordan to "come to Kenya and see what the Lord is doing". It was an easy yes for Jordan. He had already committed to the Lord in 2019 that he would fly to Kenya and back if it meant he would be able to spend just one day with Titus.
In February of 2022, Jordan flew by himself to Kenya. Jordan spent 10 days with the Mbai's visiting their home, tree farm and their church, Destiny Worship Center.
